Socotra, this beautiful and wild Island is located in the Indian Ocean. This island simply withers any image about what is considered normal for a landscape on Earth and you will have the idea that you had arrived on other planet, or in another era of the Earth. Socotra Island, which is part of a group with another four islands was isolated from Africa about 6-7 million years ago. Same as Galapagos Island, Socotra has over 700 species extremely rare of vegetation and fauna.
The climate is a quite inclement one, torrid and dry. Situated at 250 km from Somalia and 340 km from Yemen, the extended and gritty beaches arise on the calcareous tablelands abounding in 7 km long caves and 1525 meters high mountains. Certain trees and plants on the island are almost 20 million years old.
Another destination that deserves to be called beautiful and wild is Vale da Lua in Brazil. Vale da Lua is a rock formation result of water erosion, bringing to the nascence of natural pools. Situated at Chapada, at 38 km from Alto Paraiso de Goias, these rock structures are the oldest on the planet, made of quartz and crystal particles.
Europe remains in the top of tourists throughout the world; especially those arrived from USA, because only here The Ancient World brings to light all its beauty, with its architecture, art, traditions, and specific elements beside beautiful and wild landscapes. Nevertheless, many of those who would like to discover Europe hesitate because of the prices, considered on the high side. However, those with a limited budget can choose destinations cheap enough to be visited, beautiful enough not to be forgotten too easily. Let us see first what you have to do if you choose a beautiful and wild European destination.
No matter how thoroughly and well a trip is organized and prepared, many unpredictable situations may be created.
To reduce the risk of being caught by surprise, we offer some advice to overcome difficulties and to enjoy a relaxing holiday. Rain, hail and lightning can surprise you in a beautiful and wild mountainous area. The most dangerous are exposed peaks and ridges, as mountains attract clouds that are lightning generator and peaks favor thunder storms.
How to protect yourself if you are caught in the storm:
- Leave peaks or exposed ridges, flat unprotected ground. If the storm can be predicted, do not start climbing.
- If the storm is about to start and you cannot climb down, you must leave as soon as possible exposed ridges and any elevation. The middle is preferable to its extremities. Avoid isolated or tall trees.
- Where to hide from the storm? You can hide on the detritus lower slope, on a particular block as a place to sit, but not the only higher point on a flat surface.
If lightning is imminent, you have to look very quickly for a relatively protected area from direct impact. Find a platform, a light gradient, an elevation dominated by an adjacent high point (it must be at least 1 m away from any vertical wall)
