Cheap Flights on the Decline
Cheap flights have been practically disappearing in the United States as the economy sinks deeper and deeper toward recession and all big businesses—airlines included—suffer huge losses. Cheap flights were the first to go, and now most airlines are also tacking on excessive fees and charges at the same time they cut out nearly all perks and freebies they used to give out on flights. Cheap flights will not only be nonexistent very soon, but it will be extremely expensive just to get a drink of water on many airline flights across the United States.
Even online cheap flights websites have been forced to offer less and less truly cheap flights as the sheer cost of most flights go up and up. Now, things are expected to get even worse for many usual cheap flight issues. Airlines are expected to cut the number of available flights for areas of the United States that are typically known for the cheap flights opportunities.
Some cities such as Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are expected to be hard hit since their airline flyers are used to receiving cheap flights on a regular basis, but come Thanksgiving will be harder pressed to find flights where they want to go at all. The lower number of flights available overall will get rid of most cheap flights because there will be more competition for individual seats on the remaining flights that did not get slashed.
Areas that are known for cheap flights and turboprop planes will especially be hit hard because many of these types of planes are being taken out of use completely. Less airplanes with further reduce the number of available flights, which will further decrease the chances of finding cheap flights to or from these hard hit areas.
Think this may not affect you? If you are a frequent flyer who is used to finding cheap flights, it will affect you at some point probably. There will be millions fewer flights in the coming year than there have been in the past, which means millions of people will be affected in return. We are looking at a future where cheap flights might be a concept for the history books.
Over just the past few months, some discount ticket prices have risen by over a hundred dollars. Cheap flights will be even more likely as prices skyrocket when the number of flights is cut back seriously.
Many of the cheap flight areas that will receive the most drastic cut in the number of available flights are major cities across the United States that millions of people travel to on a regular basis for business, personal leisure, or to visit family and friends in other states. With the drastic elimination of cheap flights there will come another drastic decrease: in the number of people seeking out cheap flights, or any flights at all.
