Packing for the Trip
Tents made for backpackers are surprising light. Another item you’ll need is a sleeping bag and manufacturers are making them lighter than in the past as well. When traveling to countries with various weather conditions, a three season sleeping bag will be the perfect place to lay your head down to sleep.
A crucial item for backpacking is the backpack itself. Before purchasing one, go to several stores to comparison shop. It’s a good idea to try them on so you get a sense of how it will feel when you are trekking. Be sure there are plenty of pockets to store your necessary gear though you don’t want to overload your backpack and have to rest every fifteen minutes because it’s too heavy.
What about Meals?
You can often buy your food as you travel through various towns and cities. Finding cheap eats shouldn’t be too difficult especially if you meet up with other backpackers who have suggestions for bargain meals. You can always stock up on dried fruits, nuts and other foodstuffs that are not perishable but buying fresh produce, meats for sandwiches and bread can save you a bundle and be a treat for your palate.
Where Can I Sleep?
Before you leave on your trip you should spend a bit of time researching campsites and youth hostels. Both are excellent options when you are trekking through Europe and are on a tight budget. Most of the campgrounds in Europe provide campers with clean bathrooms that include hot showers, a snack bar and sometimes even washing machines making it easy to keep clothing clean. A trek across Europe when done in this way will be a cheap vacation that will afford you making new friends and acquaintances as well as a good time without breaking your bank.
