For a perfect cruise, choosing the boat that interests you is important, and not just the route. It is a common mistake of people going for the first time on a cruise not to realize that the ship actually determines the mood and atmosphere of your trip. If you are the type enjoying quiet reading, relaxing on bridges while on cruise, and you choose a ship with a very lively party atmosphere for 7 days … you will be unhappy! So take your time to be informed about the cruise lines and different boats.Secondly, book your cruise early! There are two ways to have a good price for a cruise: book early or last minute. The major difference is that by reserving it early you can choose a cabin but also the ship. Choose the best cabin that you can pay! Many people believe that the choice of a cabin does not matter because we spend little time indoors. However, you must consider some important points still: a cabin without window means darkness 24/24. On a cruise, the type of bed is also important. Several cabins have double beds that can be moved but some cruise ships have older beds that are fixed to the ground therefore impossible to move. Most cabins have a small base shower, so if you take a bath it is important to remember when you consider the category of cabin. Finally, if you can afford it, pay the luxury of a cabin with balcony, for not only the romantic aspect of the cruise, but you can also admire the scenery every day and you can leave the doors open and you fall asleep to the sound of the waves at night.
Consider always the possibility that your luggage is lost or delayed. This unfortunate event may happen during your cruise. Therefore, consider using your hand luggage as emergency. Fill it with a bathing suit, shorts, a T-shirt, underwear and of course any medication. Finally, take out travel insurance which covers loss, delay, and damage to luggage, you never know when it can serve you.
Avoid files: if there are excursions (the list is usually included in your travel papers) that you absolutely want to do, do not hesitate to book before you go (available on most cruise companies) and so avoid the race at the registration desk once on board. For reservations or spa treatments at specialty restaurants, make them the first day on board in order not to lose too much time and have a better chance of having the hours and days that suit you.
Choose excursions outside the regular tour as a helicopter canopy, swim with dolphins… Another suggestion: see if other people on the boat would be interested in doing the same trip as you: e.g. visiting a village / city / attraction, you may then take a taxi and you can share the cost of transport. Important note, if you go by yourself, be sure to return on time to ship because if you miss it … everything is at your expense!
