Liverpool is famous for Beatles and trade
Liverpool is the famous city where the Beatles became the sensation that was to rock people even after 40 years of their first performance. Liverpool has its own international airport. Prior to 2002 it was known as the Speke airport. Now it has been renamed as Liverpool John Lennon Airport. The passenger traffic has increased tremendously and it frequently handles 500,000 passengers per month. The inbound and the outbound traffic have increased significantly.
Liverpool celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2007 and in 2008; it holds the title of European Capital of Culture with Stavangar, Norway. The city grew only in the 19th century when 40% of the world trade passed through Liverpool and this gave rise to immense wealth.

There are many helicopter packages that are available and these can taken to see the aerial view of the city. In 2004, Liverpool’s waterfront was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage site. At night, the waterfront shimmers with the glow of the buildings. The waterfront on River Mersey is also the place where the financial district is situated.
Some of the most visible buildings
The Royal Liver Building towers and the Town Hall can be seen from air. It’s one of the most recognizable buildings and since its completion in 1911 and has a pair of clock towers. As a ship passed through the Mersey river, the sailors could tell the time by looking at the clock towers. These towers are also visible from the air. One can take splendid shots while been airborne.
The docks and the ports
Most visitors to the city are left wondering at the extraordinary beauty of the architecture tat pervades almost the entire city. The city is known for its docks and ports. In fact the docks have been a major part of the naval history of the country. During the World Wars many ships and mariners were dispatched from here. The ports are still busy with passenger traffic and the ships which come in out of the ports carrying goods.
Another famous building is the Port of Liverpool building, which is designed in Edwardian Baroque style and resembles London’s St. Paul Cathedral. Located on Merseyside, it now houses offices for some of the most prestigious companies such as Rathbones.
The Cathedrals in Liverpool
Look for the Cathedral Church of Christian Liverpool or the Liverpool Cathedral as it’s commonly known. It’s very Gothic in design but has many modern designs and structures also. The other Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral was to be designed by Edwin Lutyens who is also credited with designing the President’s Palace and various other buildings in Delhi (the capital of India). The Cathedral resembles an American Indian tent and the roof is the largest of its kind in the world.
There are many buildings old and new and especially on the river front that are visible from the helicopter. In fact the aerial view of the city against the River Mersey is quite stunning.
