When Traveling Inside the US
When it is the time to enjoy the holiday season, most of us do not know what to do or where to go to enjoy a good rest and a wonderful time with those that are so dear to us. As a normal thing people have the tendency to go away for the holidays to a climate that is different from the one where they live.
So, it is common that people who live in warm weathers turn to those places where snow falls to visit and vice versa. In addition, people leave to visit their relatives and friends in different areas and places, this makes traveling from one place to another quite an experience mainly because there is a big number of travelers in every depot and terminal.
Therefore, it is a good idea to make plans for travel at a specific time and day so that the number of fellow travelers that will be walking around at any of the depots that you will be using will be considerably less; this will make your trip much more comfortable.
During peak hours such as lunch time and dinner time the people that have to stay behind and do as much work as possible before being able to leave for a holiday will leave their offices and venture on the road at this time. Consequently, the number of travelers is high and so is the number of thefts, missing children and other problems.
While many travel advisors might recommend it, the difference between traveling as early in the morning or as late in the afternoon as possible can be the difference between an un-eventful travel and being mugged.
Emergency travelers usually take the earliest hours of morning, people who needs to get somewhere due to an emergency, therefore they are not attentive to what is happening and going on around them, making them ideal prey for thieves and other criminals.
Women usually travel with a handbag or a tote bag to carry their immediate necessities, such as toilet paper and even a quick snack. Perpetrators target these big handbags and small suitcases because they know that it is here where you most likely will carry your wallet, identification cards, credit cards, cellular phone and other important information.
Carry your cell phone with you, house keys and wallet. The rest indeed can go in the luggage or tote bag.
Keep in mind that it is as bad to stay behind or travel at a time when businesses and the depot stations are empty as it is to do so when there is full houses, with these considerations, remember not to stand up against the criminal if you get mugged. A seasoned mugger might indeed walk away before the police spot he/she, but a nervous one or a drugged one might prefer to turn violent; as a victim you cannot tell the state of mind in which the mugger is. Do not risk your life, remember that there are people waiting for you.
