This keeps one airline from developing a monopoly on travel.

We already know that getting a ticket to travel on the weekend will cost you more than if you travel during the weekday. Traveling during different seasons works in much the same way. During the holiday’s ticket prices are the highest. This is not unusual because many people travel during the holiday. Because tickets are highly desired during the holidays, ticket prices are higher.
Timing is also a factor when it comes to ticket prices. Some airlines sell discounted tickets at a certain time. An airline may sell cheap tickets twenty one days before the flight is scheduled or even fourteen days before the departure date. Buying tickets ahead of time will always give the buyer a clear advantage when it comes to ticket discounts.
