Choosing a Travel Destination

For an unforgettable travel, you must take into consideration the time you have. In order to make the most of your trip, it is important to take into account the time available to you: if you only have 2 weeks, it is better not to choose a destination that involves 48 hours and 7 days of adaptation to the time difference! Moreover, as the price of a discount ticket is often a major expenditure, it is important to spend more time in an expensive location, so that you can enjoy your travel.
To continue with, travel must be as well associated to the period of the year. The climate undoubtedly is a factor to be considered in choosing a destination! Some parts of the world sometimes find themselves flooded during the rainy season while others suffer from the hottest heat waves … Find out carefully: it can make the difference between a successful travel and a painful experience! It is very easy to look for information about the climate of the area where you intend to go.
Furthermore, an aspect that needs special attention during a travel is the budget. Obviously, you must travel according to your financial possibilities. However, beware! Contrary to the popular belief, traveling farther does not necessarily mean a more expensive travel. There is an easy way to compare the costs of a destination to another. Estimate the approximate cost of the travel (including transportation, lodging, meals, and visits) reported to the number of days of your stay.
Thus, it will probably cheaper to make a short stay in Europe or a long stay in Asia, depending on the circumstances.
Another factor that cannot be omitted when we want to travel is related to capabilities and experience. Most of the time travel requires a little more physical effort than it takes with your daily program. It is beneficial to walk for hours if you adapt it to your own pace. Beware, however of unrealistic projects: if your type is rather sedentary and you plan to climb Kilimanjaro, a trek in the Himalayas or 3 weeks of cycling in Balkans … better think 2 times!
The travel experience is also a factor to consider … If it is your first overseas adventure it could be challenging to land in New Delhi or Johannesburg, simply because the cultural difference may be quite confusing!
It is always better to go slowly with the contrasts and difficulties, from a trip to another, and take some experience before tackling the country dramatically different from the country of origin. It may also consider other ways to travel as internships or volunteer work is often better supervised.
Finally, the key in choosing a destination is to listen to your dreams and personal information. Besides, you may follow your intuition. Sometimes we are more attracted to some places than to others. Therefore, it is recommended to choose the destination of your heart, where you can feel as good as you feel at home. You may live in Europe, but feel at home in Africa, who knows?
