For one reason or another you are about to leave tonight to travel around the world, and you have made no plans… yet.
Do not worry. You can do this and you can probably do it cheaper than you thought. The first thing you do is tell someone to get everyone’s passports and necessary documents together, because you are going on a trip. Now grab a bottle of water and turn on the computer. Sit down breathe deeply as the computer gets ready. Announce calmly to any possible travel companions that this must go smoothly to work, and that there are some decisions that must be made quickly and wisely.
Next thing you do is decide where you are going. If you have no particular destination then you can search for transportation modes that you want to use and see where they go. Okay, done with that? Chances are you may have seen an offer that you had not seen on the first sites that you searched. It may have been a better price, or an option that appeals. In some cases it will simply be something different that you do not want to pursue. But it only takes ten minutes and may save you something more or offer you something more.

Yikes when you get up to four people or more you can run into difficulty attempting to save money with stand-by. If it is only you, or you and one adventurous companion it may pay off. Spending the night in an airport with someone fun can be fun.
