Travelling with a Baby

It is a pleasure to be able to go on holiday together with your baby! However, this trip must be made in the best conditions; you must provide the comfort and safety of your baby.
You will find in here numerous tips to be of your help in this matter.
The first questions are when and where to go. Then you may wonder what age is the most appropriate for the first trip.
A baby can travel since the third week of life, but you must know that he or she needs sleep and quiet in the first few months. In addition, a baby may not be disturbed and frightened by the change of place and environment. Think well that a baby will not remember this trip when he or she grows up and they will not enjoy the scenery. It would be better to wait them to grow. It will be less tiring for the baby and for you as well. It is preferable to travel at night. Thus, the hours of sleep for the baby will correspond with the hours of travel, and the trip will be easier both for him or her and for you.
Where to go is another important question. Although a baby can adapt where their parents feel good, it is important to choose carefully the destination. This choice should not be based only on your mood, but it must take into account, of course, your baby and his or her health.
Choose a destination and do not change your mind. Therefore, you must avoid too hot climates, or climates, which are too wet or too cold.
Besides, avoid too remote destinations. Time gap and the duration of a trip are very important aspects. Instead, it is preferable to choose mountain climates (less than 1000 meters), or plain (but attention to insects!). Once you have chosen your destination, avoid excessive sun and heat! Marine climates are excellent for any baby.
The choice of the means of transport in a trip is very important. Although travelling by car is the most interesting from the financial and practical point of view (you may take more things with you), it is preferable to reduce the maximum the length of the route when you have to travel with a small baby on board.
The most appropriate is to take the train or plane (even if it is more expensive). It is faster and more comfortable for baby (he or she can be left to sleep in your arms or in a pram), but it is also more secure. You will be less tired and more relaxed at the end of your trip by train or plane. Whatever your decision and the chosen means of transport are, here you will find tips for a travel in the best conditions possible.
It is essential, of course, that your baby will be installed in his or her special and comfortable chair (which is legally approved). When you travel by car, you need to stop every two hours to rest up, you and your baby as well, not to accumulate too much fatigue. Meanwhile, you can change the baby’s position.
