The Changing Face of the Family Vacation
Over the past fifteen years, the way families and individuals take vacations has changed a lot. This is partly due to an increase in the number of vacations booked online and the many low cost airline tickets that are now available. A vacationer is also more open now to different types of vacations like an adventure vacation where one may go mountain climbing. Adventure vacations are becoming more and more popular with vacationers. Also many vacations have been re-imagined to not only win back travelers who may be on a strict budget but to also create exciting and new vacation experiences for people. The traditional family vacation may be changing because there are many individuals who are remaining single for a longer period of time and do not have kids until their late thirties and early forties. So there has to be new vacation ideas that suit this new demographic.
For those who are still able to have one two week family vacation per year, even the vacation for them has changed a great deal. Typically, many people want to go on vacation in the month of July or August but because of the many new options available, planning the family vacation is more flexible. More and more people are booking their vacation packages online through airlines that may offer a low fare. Being able to plan the family vacation online is convenient and an individual can search the internet on their own time and find a location that best fits their vacation timeline and requirements.
The face of the vacation is also changing because people are now taking more breaks on the weekend through cheap airlines. These weekend vacations take away from our vacation budget so there is less money to take the traditional two week vacation. Vacation providers have tried to combat this trend by creating vacations that span over two or three locations. This is a great option because you get to see different spots on your vacation but the down side is that you are spending the majority of your vacation traveling between different locations before heading home.
Vacation companies have also re-branded the cruise market. Cruise vacations are becoming more popular because they no longer seem to be the out of reach overly formal vacation that they used to be. In the past going on a cruise for vacation was something older people did. These vacations were enjoyed by older individuals who love to dress up for meals with the captain of the ship. However, the market has changed a lot and now taking a cruise vacation is much less formal.
Vacation companies have also created the mini cruise. This cruise is for people who do not want to spend a whole two weeks on a cruise ship or they simply do not have the vacation time left to spend two weeks at sea.
A mini cruise is the same as a typical cruise. The only difference being that a mini cruise only lasts a couple of nights. A mini cruise vacation can give you an excellent taste of a typical cruise vacation and you can find out if this is the kind of vacation the that you want to invest in. You also have the advantage of seeing some special palaces without taking too much time. Mini-cruise vacations are great if you time them for a weekend and you will also save money if you want to take advantage of a full cruise later on.
