Exclusive Vacation Tips

Packing for a vacation can be a somewhat overwhelming. You more than likely will pack too little or too much.  All you want is to leave for your vacation destination and enjoy yourself.  How nice it would be to wave a magic wand and have all your packing done for your vacation. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find this magic wand, so here are my best vacation packing tips.

Packing Tip 1

If you only think you might have a need for an item, don’t take it.  It will add to the clutter and weight of your luggage.  You might not have room for something you really need badly.  Make a list of what you must have.  If you have room after packing those items for your vacation, then by all means, pack a “possibly needed item.”  But don’t sacrifice on something that is required for your vacation.

Packing Tip 2

Lay everything out you must have on your bed or table.  Select only half of what you absolutely must have.  Then place all the other articles back in their proper place.  You may already have everything you need.  If you are having a really difficult time with this, try walking away and thinking about your vacation.  You may have a fresh perspective when you return.

Packing Tip 3

Don’t take the items of clothing that will work only for one special occasion.  Taking clothing that often has several uses will save valuable space.  If one of your shirts can also be worn as a nightgown, then it is great.  Pack it.  If your sandals will work for a day at the beach and for a shopping excursion, take them.  This will also lighten your load.  Think about the area in which you are going to vacation.  Is it a relaxed atmosphere or something more glamorous?  This will help ease your vacation packing concerns.

Packing Tip 4

Leave your denim jeans at home.  It is heavier than most fabrics, doesn’t dry quickly and often is not allowed in certain establishments.  Stick to lighter weight, breathable fabrics.  Many fabrics are now wrinkle resistant, which will make preparing to go out on the town easier.

Packing Tip 5

Do not clean out your bathroom and medicine cabinet to take on your vacation.  Take only the things you must have.  Most vacation destinations have these items available for sale.  You don’t need fourteen shades of eye shadow for a vacation at the beach.  Get a manicure and pedicure done before you leave so you don’t have to worry about carting around nail polish and such on your vacation. You also can leave all the different hair products at home instead of taking them on vacation.  Pick out your best products and pack them in the “I must have these items for vacation” pile.  Remember to place your liquids, gels, and sprays in sealable plastic bags.

Remember, you do not have to pack your entire home when going on vacation.  Using these simple tips will help your vacation go smoothly until you return home.
